Driving National Skills Development
The IDEAS-TVET Project Flag-Out in Edo State
A major milestone in the advancement of technical education. In February 2026, the Lady Mechanic Initiative actively participated in the official flag-out of the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) TVET project in Edo State. Sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the World Bank and the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, the initiative aims to radically enhance the quality of vocational training.
Led by our founder, Engr. Dr. Sandra Aguebor MFR, our cohort of brilliant female trainees stood alongside key state officials and international stakeholders, demonstrating that women are not just participating in Nigeria’s industrial future—they are leading it. This partnership underscores our unwavering commitment to equipping youth with world-class technical skills that drive state GDP and foster long-term economic independence.

Grassroots Empowerment: Lady Mechanic Initiative Partners with Uhunmwode LG for 'Isiwina Harvest of Hope'
On June 23, 2026, the Lady Mechanic Initiative partnered with the Executive Council Chairman of Uhunmwode LG, Hon. Austin Imafidon, for the impactful “Isiwina Harvest of Hope (IHH)” community support program. The event, which was held at Eyean health center along Aduwawa Auchi Road in Benin City, drew a massive turnout of residents who traveled from the Uhunmwode community to receive support.
The outreach beautifully combined immediate relief with ongoing, long-term economic sustainability. While the initiative distributed dignified food baskets to vulnerable families, a core highlight was the celebration of an active human capacity partnership. A cohort of 60 young women from the community, who are already being fully sponsored to undergo elite technical training with the Lady Mechanic Initiative, were invited to the venue to be celebrated and to receive their community care packages.
By creating channels where underserved communities can connect with world-class technical training, the Lady Mechanic Initiative and the Uhunmwode Local Government are ensuring that young women are given equal access to high-value trades, breaking the cycle of economic vulnerability right at home.

Driving the future of clean energy and economic self-reliance in Nigeria. This feature documents a landmark collaboration between the Lady Mechanic Initiative, the Edo State Government, and the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC). Under the theme “New Horizon for Women in the Automotive Industry,” the program successfully certified 50 young women in highly specialized PMS to CNG vehicle conversion.
The graduation ceremony was attended by high-level stakeholders, including the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; the Director General of the NADDC, Joseph Oluwamimor Osanipin; and the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq. (representing the Governor). A key highlight of the event was the official induction of the Governor as a Patron of the Lady Mechanic Initiative. Led by pioneering founder Engr.
